This page explains which cookies and similar technologies (such as
localStorage) are used on MareCalmo and how you can control them.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device. They are used to make the
site work, remember your preferences or show ads. Similar technologies such as
localStorage perform comparable functions directly in your browser.
Cookies and storage used by MareCalmo
1. Technical / functional (always active)
Essential for the app to work. They do not require consent and do not track your browsing on
other sites. They are saved in your browser's localStorage and are not sent to
external servers:

The Service Worker cache (for the offline operation of the PWA) also falls under the necessary technical technologies.
The language preference is also mirrored in a technical cookie
mc_lang (lasting 1 year), sent to our server to serve pages in the
correct language. It is a preference cookie: it does not profile you and does not require consent.
For those who log in to their account (optional login, to sync favourites and preferences across devices) and for businesses accessing the Business Space, we use technical session cookies, necessary to keep the user authenticated. They do not profile you and do not require consent:

2. Marketing and affiliates (subject to your consent)
The GetYourGuide widget and the Google Ads tag are activated only after you consent (the "Marketing" category of our panel): until you consent they are not loaded and do not write any cookies. Google AdSense display ads follow a different path, explained below the table.

Display ads are served by Google AdSense. Its library is present on every page and starts with advertising signals set to denied (Google Consent Mode v2): before your choice no personalisation cookies are set. Once ad serving is active, in the European Economic Area advertising consent is collected by Google's own panel, certified and integrated with the TCF, alongside ours for the other tools. Details on how Google uses cookies in advertising. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings and, for other vendors, at aboutads.info/choices.
The GetYourGuide widget is third-party content: when you activate it (by giving consent or by tapping "Show experiences" on a card) it may set a visitor id on its own domain. How to manage your consent
On your first visit we show you a consent panel managed directly by MareCalmo. The "Marketing" tools (Google Ads and GetYourGuide) are activated only if you consent, and "Reject" is just as easy and immediate as "Accept". You can review or withdraw your choice at any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.
At a technical level, Google's tags start in "consent denied" mode (Google Consent Mode) and the Google Ads library is not loaded until you consent; the GetYourGuide widget is not displayed (the plain text links are shown in its place) until you activate it.
In addition, you can always:
- manage or block cookies from your browser settings;
- delete data saved locally by clearing the site data.
