What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device. They are used to make the site work, remember your preferences or show ads. Similar technologies such as localStorage perform comparable functions directly in your browser.

Cookies and storage used by MareCalmo

1. Technical / functional (always active)

Essential for the app to work. They do not require consent and do not track your browsing on other sites. They are saved in your browser's localStorage and are not sent to external servers:

KeyPurpose
mc.modalityRemembers the selected activity
mc.maxKmRemembers the distance radius
mc.sortByRemembers the chosen sorting
mc.coastRemembers the selected coast
mc.categoriesRemembers the active categories
mc.langRemembers the language chosen for the interface
mc_last_posStores your last position (if you enable GPS)

The Service Worker cache (for the offline operation of the PWA) also falls under the necessary technical technologies.

The language preference is also mirrored in a technical cookie mc_lang (lasting 1 year), sent to our server to serve pages in the correct language. It is a preference cookie: it does not profile you and does not require consent.

For businesses accessing the Business Space only, we also use two technical session cookies, necessary to keep the user authenticated in the panel. They do not profile you and do not require consent:

CookiePurposeDuration
mc_bizBusiness panel session (httpOnly)up to 7 days / until logout
mc_adminAdministration area session (httpOnly)up to 12 hours / until logout

2. Advertising / third-party (subject to consent)

MareCalmo uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may set cookies to serve ads and, if you consent, to personalise them based on your visits. These cookies are managed by Google, not by us.

We also use the Google Ads tag to measure the conversions of our advertising campaigns. This tag too, managed by Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC., may set cookies (e.g. _gcl_au) and is activated only subject to consent.

How to manage your consent

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, on your first visit we show you a consent message (a Consent Management Platform certified by Google): advertising cookies that are not strictly necessary are activated only if you consent. You can review or withdraw your choice at any time by recalling the consent panel.

At a technical level, Google's advertising tags are initialised in «consent denied» mode (Google Consent Mode): they do not write advertising cookies nor collect identifiers until you give your consent through the message above.

In addition, you can always:
