La Cinta, Cala Brandinchi, Lu Impostu: between San Teodoro and Budoni the sand is white and ultra-fine, the water stays shallow for a long way out, and the vertical silhouette of Tavolara is always on the horizon.

The coast between San Teodoro and Budoni
La Cinta is an arc of about five kilometres of fine sand with dunes and junipers, stretched in front of the town of San Teodoro; behind it, the lagoon, one of the most important wetlands of the north-eastern coast, hosts flamingos and marsh birds. To the north open Lu Impostu and Cala Brandinchi, nicknamed «little Tahiti» for its pale sand and transparent water, with the limestone mountain of Tavolara rising vertically from the sea in front. To the south, the beaches of Budoni between pine woods and scrub.
When the sea is calm between San Teodoro and Budoni
This is the coast Sardinians choose when the maestrale blows: the bays facing south-east often stay sheltered while the island's west side is in a storm. The shallow, sandy water of La Cinta and Brandinchi ruffles up instead with the easterly winds, grecale and levante first of all, and with the sirocco. Early in the morning, before the breeze, the transparency is usually at its peak.
